Rules and Format
- This is a team competition, primarily for
teams from companies, club teams are also accepted. All team
types should meet their respective eligibility requirements
which are detailed in the eligibility section below.
- Each team must be formed with a minimum of 3 players,
and a maximum of 6 players . A non-playing captain can
be accepted as a 7th member.
- Each team match consists of five individual matches and
can end when one team has won three out of five matches. Each
individual match shall be a best of five games with 11 points
in each game.
- Before the start of the match, the team
that wins the toss shall choose to be either ABC team or XYZ
team.
- The first player must play two singles.
The second player must play one single and one double. No
restrictions on other players.

- The first round will be score based competition. The
teams will be divided into two or more groups. Each
group consists of no more than 30 teams. Teams play
every other team in their group. The winning team gets 3
points, and the losing team gets 1 point. Attempt will be made
to put teams of same preferred time (lunch time, other time) in
same group, otherwise it will be random.
- Top teams are decided based on the scores from the
first round. Top 13 teams, 8 from Group A and 5
from Group B, will qualify automatically to the playoff round
of 16. Winning Ratio will be used as tie breaker.
- The remaining 3 spots for the playoff rounds are
decided by the lost pearl qualification event. The lost
pearl tournament will be played by 12 teams. The 12 teams
consist of the next top 6 teams in group A, the next top 4
teams in group B, and 2 teams picked by organization committee.
- Organizers reserve the right to adjust the group size,
group drawing, and the play off round size. The adjustments
will be done if necessary depending on the number of registered
teams for the tournament.
Lost Pearl Draw and Format
- Participants: 12 teams. 6 From Group A, 4 from Group B and 2 organizers pick.
- Format: Group Round Robin followed by Single Elimination.
- Grouping: 12 teams are divided into 4 groups with 3 teams in each group.
- Seed and Drawing: Top 2 ranked teams in group A and top 2 ranked teams in group B will be the seeds in the 4 groups. The other teams
draw randomly into each group.
- Top 2 teams in each group advance. Total 8 teams advance and play single elimination.
- Group winner stay in its bracket. Group runner up will draw randomly into the other half of the bracket.
- Two semi-final winners directly qualify for the play off.
- Two semi-final losers will play a match for the 3rd spot. This is the last spot to qualify for play off.
Play Off Draw and Format
- Participants: 16 teams. Top 8 From Group A, Top 5 from Group B and 3 lost pearl qualification winners.
- Format: Group Round Robin followed by Single Elimination.
- Grouping: 16 teams are divided into 4 groups. 4 teams in each group.
- Seed and Drawing: Top 2 ranked teams in group A and top 2 ranked teams in group B will be the seeds in the 4 groups. The other teams
draw randomly into each group.
- Top 2 teams in each group advance. Total 8 teams advance and play single elimination.
- Group winner stay in its bracket. Group runner up will draw randomly into the other half of the bracket.
Team Eligibility Requirements
- All members of a company team must be employees,
interns, or contractors with badge as of registration date.
- All members of a club team must be active members or
donors of their respective clubs during the entire tournament
period.
- For club teams, top 2 members cannot exceed a
combined USATT rating of 4300 and top 3 members
cannot exceed USATT rating of 6200 as of registration
start date. Rating is calculated as Max(USATT Tournament
Rating, USATT League Rating). Additionally, a player cannot be
part of a club team, if there is a company team from the
player’s company.
- Joint company teams of 2 companies are accepted,
provided there are no other individual or joint teams from
their respective companies.
- Captain of the team is responsible for the integrity of
the team, ensure the eligibility of team members, and produce
verifiable proofs if demanded by the organizing committee.
- Not meeting the eligibility requirements listed above
would result in disqualification.
Registration/Entry
- Every team requires at least 3 players, limits to 6
players
- Each company or club can register multiple teams, no
upper limits.
- Each team registration fee $100. Early bird $80.
- Please make sure to mention your preferred match time
of lunch or other time.

Schedule
- 9/4 - 9/22: Registration. Early bird discount applies
before 9/11.
- 9/23 - 11/9: Preliminary phase, group round robin
- 11/11: Lost pearl qualification event
- 11/18: Top 16 group round robin
- 11/19: Top 8 single elimination, and finals
Awards
- The champion: $800 + Medal
- The second place: $400 + Medal
- The third and fourth place: $200
- 5th - 8th: $100
- 9th - 16th:3 boxes Nittaku 3 star premium ping pong
balls
Others
- The official match ball for this competition is Nittaku
3 star Premium. First round, players can use other balls under
two teams’ agreement. The organizers will provide match balls
for final rounds.
- Matches are suggested to be held at PPC Swan ping pong
club, however, it can also be held at any other club under two
teams agreement.
- For any individually scheduled matches between team
captains, If a team cancels without 24 hr notice(email/message)
or does not arrive for the match, then the showed up team has
the rights to take a default win of 2 points or reschedule the
match for the chance to win 3 points. In case the default win
is taken, the no show team will get 0 points.
- The organizers will allocate dedicated tables at PPC
Swan during weekends for the matches, Saturday AM & PM, and
Sunday PM only.
- A CLC 2017 captains communication group will be formed
in either google groups or WeChat. All tournament announcements
will be done in this group.
- There will be live stream provided for final round
